Statement

I have loved drawing and painting for as long as I can remember.  Art has always been part of my life and I have drawn and painted throughout. Now, I have the opportunity, I am enjoying experimenting with new mediums and techniques. I have been on many courses and workshops and I am currently studying watercolour and mixed media on a weekly basis with an excellent teacher. I belong to several local art groups and enjoy the monthly demonstrations and events and the encouragement that you get from other members. I take part in the annual Hampshire Open Studio event each Summer at several venues around the district. My work has been accepted at the Oxmarket Centre for Arts, the Mottisfont House open exhibition and at the Yellow Edge Gallery amongst others.

My usual medium is watercolour and ink, individually or often combined, but I also use graphite, charcoal , oil based colour pencils and occasionally acrylics. I am also an Urban Sketcher, meeting up with other artists whenever possible, to sketch and record the local urban area.

An enduring love of the British countryside and coastline inspires me to paint and produce my interpretation of some of our lonely and beautiful places.
