Statement

I am a non-binary Fine Art Student. Coming from Pembrokeshire, West Wales, attachment to an atavistic Celtic identity and a close bond with nature inform my imagery. My practice has always been inspired by fictionalising my intense and powerful encounters, relationships and emotions. I seek to explore a primordial sense of spirituality and sexuality which forms the link between our lives now and our ancient roots, and to examine modern queer identities through the lens of established art traditions. Probing the psychology behind people and conversations by exposing their inner states with my distorted and charged portraiture.

Traditionally I have focused on painting, illustration, collages and zines using narrative to communicate these concepts. Recently, I’m more drawn to re-inventing my figurative illustrations in new and subversive contexts; working with found objects and on 3D surfaces to challenge and expand my idea of ‘drawing’.
