Statement
I am a sculptor and performance artist based in the UK. Through my practice I explore themes of microbiology and biological diversity through abstraction. I create fictional microorganisms out of clay, wax, silicon, latex and plastic with the use of digital design but also though more traditional practices such as wood carving and hand building.
Light plays an important role in my work and I have a keen interest in bioluminescence. I use installation and performance to explore existential questions surrounding concepts such as pollution/extinction/mutation/evolution and audience participation often is essential in the delivery of my performance work.
I spent my childhood in Athens learning music and attending regular art classes. My early sculptural work in wood became the blueprint for my current work and it helped me preserved the brut aesthetic that defines the visual language of my work
