Jonathan Thompson is a painter-printmaker who produces limited edition etchings. The images depict a journey that evoke a sense of the sublime using the landscape or a narrative to create prints within the British Visionary tradition. He has received several awards for his work at the National Print Exhibition at the Mall Galleries and Camberwell College of Arts London where he graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Art Painting in 1985, Postgraduate Printmaking 1986 and MA Printmaking in 2000. His recent project focuses on The Solent Way, a 60 mile footpath between Emsworth and Milford on Sea in Hampshire. Johnathan begins his journey by making outdoor water colour studies and uses this as a starting point to make multi plate sugar lift aquatint etchings.
