Statement
Kate Dowty
Kate’s background is in graphic design and originally quilting was a means of escaping from the computer screen and returning to a hands-on approach.
She is interested in line and colour, and chooses a non-traditional approach to her work. She uses a mixture of improvisational techniques including both hand and machine quilting and particularly enjoys the textural effects that result from adding dense stitching to fabric.
Kate’s work has been widely exhibited in the UK, Europe and North America and pieces are in private collections the UK, Europe, North America and New Zealand.
