Katrin grew up in an environment where art was always a part of her life as both her mother and grandmother painted. The love of colour and creativity remained with her although she originally pursued a scientific career. Over the years Katrin took several evening classes in life drawing, painting and ceramics.  Whilst bringing up her family Katrin spent her creative energies designing and making childrens clothes for several years.

Katrin returned to formal study and took a Scottish Higher in art. Following this she was accepted on a one year Portfolio course at Glasgow School of Art. This was followed by an HND in Stitched Textile and Fashion at Cardonald College, Glasgow. Throughout these courses, drawing in all its forms was emphasized and Katrin’s horizons for experimenting with different media widened.

In 2003, Katrin moved to North Carolina, USA and through the Visual Art Exchange in Raleigh and Fine Arts League of Cary, she exhibited in several group shows and was represented by the Michael Lecher Gallery, Cary, NC.

Following her return to Scotland in 2006, Katrin became part of the Clyde Coast Spinners and Weavers Guild, meeting like-minded people and learning many new skills. Galleries in Scotland continue to stock her work.

In 2014, Katrin moved to Petersfield, Hampshire and continued her woolly themes business and became a member of the Petersfield Arts and Craft Society and also the International Feltmakers Association.
