Statement

After graduating from Southampton Institute of Art in 1991 I moved to Hackney, East London where I set up a studio practice. During this period, I worked as a technician at Flowers East Gallery and briefly as an assistant to Anish Kapoor. I became interested in the ‘process’ school of artists who emerged in the UK during the 90’s as well as earlier abstract work.

I began exploring the material nature of paint through purely abstract and figurative work often by allowing the paint to pour down off the surface whilst still retaining a ghost of the original structure or image. This technique brings into question such ideas as chance and placement, spontaneity and control etc as well as looking at the passage of time.

I’ve exhibited in numerous exhibitions in the UK and Europe and been collected internationally.
