Statement
My painting practice focuses on the urban landscape and the man made spaces we inhabit. I am interested in exploring the colours and atmosphere of the city environment particularly at night when these experiences are intensified. I employ an expressionist approach seeking to balance painterly abstraction with representation. Colour is an important aspect of my work, indulging in excessive vibrancy as influenced by David Batchelors book “Chromophobia”. Other important influences include Edward Hopper, Frank Auerbach and Willem de Kooning. I studied Fine Art: Painting at Northbrook College Sussex (Brighton Met) graduating in 2005
