Statement

 NAOMI-ELLEN ROSS

My vision is poor so I enjoy painting shapes and patterns using the bright colours of acrylics and watercolour pencils.

Painting makes me feel happy and relaxed and I paint listening to music.

My influences are the colours and shapes in Mediterranean tiles and mosaics.

I have visited many exhibitions and museums.  One of my favourites is the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice.  The recent exhibition of Gerard Richter’s work at the John Hansford gallery, Southampton, called ‘4900 Colours’ was amazing and filled the room from floor to ceiling with coloured squares.

I exhibited a small piece of work in the ‘Turning the Tide’ exhibition at the Explosion Museum, Gosport, in 2018.

My ambition is to make more colourful pictures to help other people feel happy!
