Born in Johannesburg, Portsmouth based contemporary artist Ric Robinson, although always experimenting has, alongside work on social issues and his home city generally, latterly turned to making work focussing on nature, ecological renewal, and the climate emergency. Ric has a global view of art and life in general and is firmly internationalist and pro-European. His work reflects many aspects of his life and surroundings and ranges from found object sculptures to intimate wildlife portraits. for the last few years his paintings often feature signature use of gold leaf as a background highlighting the subject. Other recent, more sculptural work, forms part of his reaction to the ongoing pandemic and the inadequacy and corruption of the government’s covid response.
