Statement
I studied Fine Art at Reading University and more recently have practised at Slade School of Fine Art, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, City Lit, East London Print Makers, London Print Studio and Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design ( CASS ).
I am a member of East London Printmakers, the Espacio Gallery and Peninsular Artists. I have studios in London and Hampshire.
My paintings are abstract and non-compositional. They are about visual order, positive and negative space, concentrated visual events and colour relationships. Colour defines the space and relationship, which is balanced in overall unity.
I find the challenge of painting is holding ideas together on the surface whilst managing the tension between the various elements jockeying for position. I want my paintings to give the feeling that something is happening on the surface, behind the surface and beyond the surface.
