Statement

I have enjoyed working with fabric since school,  but have only painted since I moved to Lee-on-the-Solent in 2003.

Decades of working as a Chartered Accountant, Homeopath and then a Paramedic left little time for either sewing or painting, but I still enjoyed entering the occasional art exhibition beginning with the Titchfield Art and Craft Show in 2009.

Initially,  I painted only in watercolours and was delighted that one of my early paintings was ‘Highly Commended’ by the judges at the Titchfield Art & Craft Show in 2011. I continued to paint only occasionally until ceasing full-time employment in 2016 and thereafter,  have been able to devote more time to both painting and sewing and have now begun to paint in watercolours, oils and acrylics.  Recently, I have made numerous items for local craft fayres  and had my first  solo exhibition as part of Hampshire Open Studios  in 2018.  It was a successful experiment for me and I am exhibiting again in 2019.

I am a keen traveller who loves animals, the natural world and being by the sea,  subjects which often feature in my creative work.

I am a long-standing member of the Solent Art Society and also attend regular oil and watercolour classes with Sue Rubira.
