I’m a self-taught artist based in Gosport, Hampshire, having grown up in Surrey and then spent many years living in Australia and New Zealand before returning to the UK in 1995.
I’ve always been keen on anything creative, from hair and makeup styling in my younger years to interior and garden design ideas as I became older. I’ve always loved and been fascinated by art in all its forms but it’s only in the last few years, that I’ve been able to indulge my passion and create my own art.
I love experimenting with textures and unusual colour combinations and generally get my inspiration from the dramatic side of nature in all her wonder. My work is semi abstract in a contemporary style. I like people to be able to see something vaguely resembling reality but then putting their own interpretation on it. I really enjoy hearing the different things people see in the same piece of art. I work in a variety of mediums, but my favourite is always oil paints, mostly on large, deep-edged canvases. I love how you can create a dreamy, soft background with oils and then add some contrasting drama to the centre.
I hope my work brings enjoyment and I hope I can continue to experiment and explore new ideas for the future.
